Talks: 10
months to go
So two months of the year have
closed. January and February
statistically are the worst months
financially out of the year for
students and working adults.
Hopefully, if you've been reading
what I've been saying, I've tried to
help you navigate these terrible
times by just planning one move
ahead. Saving goes a long way.
And, while it doesn't seem like it a
feasible reduction in booze and
smoking can immediately release
$888 or more to your budget.
There is a great deal of uncertainty
coming from Capital Hill. We are
still in a tax cut, rebate, and high
unemployment cycle so every little
bit you can save will ensure you
have options for tomorrow. If you're
still on track for saving $5.50 a
week you should have $49.50 or
more saved. Just as a reminder, its'
the everyday actions we do that
create habits. Make sure yours
PAY YOU BACK.
March
INDY TRASHed FAD!
1. IT IS NOT COOL TO DRINK AND DRIVE. When drinking please make the responsible decisions and call a cab!
|
2. Having your children steal for you in stores and restaurants.
|
3. No offense, but tanks and small shirts that don't cover a plump-well rounded belly.
|
4. TIme out for scams and computer viruses. Seriously, what the * are you thinking?
|
5. Sorry late nite fans but I gotta trash steak and shake. I got the worst service and no food at 1am.
|
6. The days of the fast and furious are over. And that piece on muffler is annoying.

Myth or Prelude to Humanity?
|
I've got one for you. It's 1:30am in the morning on October 10th
2009. I would say in about 12 hours I have to be downtown for the
Indiana Aids walk. I'd say, I'm gonna be tired. I'm awaken suddenly
from my slumber in plush white down pillows and feather
comforters. A house chilled nicely to 72 degrees and the moon
dancing on my feet. 8:37pm, I'm clutching up to fifth gear to get
down to the 38th avenue to support a new and emerging group
INoir and also to hit the 30th ave by 9pm. Dang. I missed the
house, gotta back up. 9:22pm, I arrived to a wealth of sands, tans,
and bronze eager and ready faces to begin. Handsome men and
gorgeous divas are planted in front of me. I'm greeted by a group
call in unison of "DG" and realize though I have arrived, I'm late.
Late to what I have just walked into. We drive the streets four cars
deeps waiting, watching, and stalking. We are waiting on who's
gonna get theirs first or next. 10:13pm, I hear someone say,
"there's one..."and with ammo in hand they jump out and serve him
up. Its' just the right place at the right time. They walk up hoodie low
on head in the dark of the cold, wet, and gloomy night with their
shadows walking shotgun. As a rookie, most drive bys I stay
behind. I'm the driver you see. I can see the person shift as if he
knows someone is coming but this team-has no fear. They
approach. I watch. She says, "hey sir, are you cold? Would you like
a blanket?" Timid, yet grateful they accept. The Lady D of the pack
reminds Sat-fire,"ask him if he wants a sandwich or an extra
blanket?" Ok. Just like this, street, after street, after alleys, after
underpass. This team of 10+ individuals, Captained by Yellow and
Precious, took it upon themselves in an altruistic fashion to hit the
streets and help the homeless. Didn't matter the time or the
quantity. Coat, after coat, after blanket, after snack bags were given
to help out those that are less fortunate. And, you know what. They
look just like me and you.
Dem Girls and Dem Boyz is a motorcyle gang with big hearts,
christian leadership, and everyday empowerment to do more and
be more. So is this a myth that happened in my sleep or are we
amongst heroes that need no recognition to do what is right?
2:22am.

In the late days of February we
lost one of our friends, buddies,
hairdresser's, student, mother,
daugter, wife, community leader,
and child of God. Eboni Dotson,
was 30 when she passed taken by
the reckless nature of Curt
Carlson driving under the
influence. She is survived by her
loving wife, friends, business
partners, and family.
Eboni Dotson was my friend. She
was my women's coordinator for
our Spring show on April 24th. She
had a great eye for fashion and
appeal. You could always find
Eboni in a great mood and with
something positive to say along
with a sly remark afterwards...just
for humor. She was open-minded,
ambitious, wide-eyed,
exceptionally talented, loving and
a poignant figure to her nuclear
family. She was active in the
community along with
AnnMoniques co-sponsoring walks
and charities with G. Ingles. She
was a great listener, the kind that
seperates a true friend from an
associate and she will forever be
missed. Eboni, it was a privilege to
meet and work with you.

Ooohhh, this place is sooooo good.
Immediately as you walk into the
restaurant the mustard yellows and
deep orange walls activate your eyes.
There is eclectic and soulful Spanish
music that makes you feel light and
ready to dance. Friendly staff , diverse
beer selection, and an inexpensive
meal fare puts El Bodegon on our
March recommendation!
